Each sound was transferred digitally at the 16bit, 44.1 kHz CD standard specification. But, thanks to the "Aware" high quality software audio compression, the SPEED OF SOUND Library offers more than six times the storage capacity of standard audio CDs. It's like getting six CDs in one, yet you don't need a special CD ROM drive or special audio hardware to play it!

OnLine Search and Retrieval:

Sounds can be quickly retrieved by name or by partial word searches. Onscreen display of descriptive captions makes it easy to pick the sound that matches your requirements. Doubleclicking on any file name instantly auditions it. For compatibility with a wide variety of Macintosh, PC and Silicon Graphics multimedia applications, sounds can be retrieved from the library in a choice of sampling rates (44.1, 22.05 and 11.025 kHz), resolutions (16 or 8 bits) and industry standard formats (AIFF, AIFFC, WAV, or OMF).

Attention Windows 95 Users:
Unfortunately, the audition feature on the SOS CD ROM does not work on all Windows 95 systems. In some cases, you will only be able to audition the sounds at 11.025 KHz. However, you should still be able to extract all sounds at 44.1 KHz without difficulties.

Attention and ProTools Users:
We have discovered that the BrowsFX program will not run properly on some ProTools systems - either it won't open or the files don't play.

Attention Power Mac Users:
We have discovered that the BrowsFX program will not run properly on some Power Macs - either it won't open or the files don't play. However, you can now download a patch file from this website that may fix the problem.

Easy to do - just follow these instructions -
1.Copy the contents of the folder named "MAC" from the SOS CD ROM to your hard drive. This folder contains the BrowsFX application and related files.
2.Click where indicated below in order to download the file named "browsfx_1.3.6.sea" to your hard drive. The file is 647 kBytes in size.
3.Once copied to your hard drive, double click on the BrowsFX icon to extract the file, and it will replace the faulty browser program. You will now be able to run the program from your hard drive without additional difficulties. Note that you must have the SOS disc mounted in your CD ROM drive when running BrowsFX from your hard disk.
